Pair of Antique Os De Mouton Arm Chairs
Pair of Antique Os De Mouton Arm Chairs
A pair of Classic French Os de Mouton chairs have been hand carved in oak, assembled with square peg construction and upholstered in a deep red. This two wider “king and queen” armchairs. These chairs date to the early part of the 1900s, but the Os de Mouton design can be traced back to the Louis XIII period (circa 1650). Os de Mouton (French for “sheep bone”) are named as such because the shape of the chair resembles legs of lamb (a curly brace with rounded corners). These chairs introduced upholstered chairs affixed by brass nail head trim to the emerging middle class. The style is timeless and Classic French.
