This antique, primitive slate board dates from the early 1900s when there were one room schoolhouses and each child had their own slate. This unique slate board has some writing on two edges. I cannot fully read it. On one edge it appears someone signed their name. On another edge it looks like someone's initials. The slate board is solid and is not loose, yet there is what looks like a crack mark from top to bottom on both sides. Even though you can see this on both sides, it does not seem to go all the way through. Running my hand along either side of the slate I can barely feel the crack mark. It has string stitched around the edges. Even though there are some frayed edges it is not loose. What a great addition to a collection! Superb writing school slate board . . . a gem! With Shabby Chic and Farmhouse Chic being all the rage, this slate board also makes a great home decor display piece! It could be used as a message board, or doodle your art and hang up for display.Thank you for visiting my shop!
